Kathleen “Kay” DeGregorio (nee Doherty) was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who were blessed to know her. She left this world peacefully in her sleep on June 21, 2022 at the age of 92.
Kay was born in the Bronx, NY on November 3, 1929 to Cornelius and Catherine Doherty. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Frank (Sonny), raised three children and was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After a fulfilling career as a manager of Chase Bank in the Bronx, NY, Kay and Sonny retired to Lakewood, NJ where they enjoyed their senior years with an abundance of friends, golfing, playing cards and visiting Atlantic City. Kay is remembered for her love of the Yankees, her clever card playing skills and her luck at the slot machines. In 2020 she relocated to Bardonia, NY and spent her final years surrounded by family. Kay was the heartbeat of her family and touched many lives with her love, strength and wisdom.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cathy DelGardo and her husband Michael Sr., son Thomas DeGregorio and his wife Claudia, her grandchildren Diane Brown, Michael DelGardo Jr., Jaclyn Passanante, Devin DeGregorio, Frankie DeGregorio, great-grandchildren Jessica Brown, Alessandra DelGardo, Robert Passanante Jr., Cassidy DelGardo, Joseph Passananate, Jackson DeGregorio, sister-in-laws Emma Allman, Anita DeGregorio and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Frank (Sonny) in 2006 and son Robert (Bobby) in 2022.
Family will receive visitors on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 3pm-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 10am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Nyack, followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
