Lawrence A. Pia

Lawrence A. Pia, a lifelong resident of Nanuet, New York, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2021. Larry was born on May 2, 1934 in Corona, New York to Luciano Pia and Mildred (LaPorte) Pia. He was a graduate of Nyack High School, Nyack, NY, and served in the Army from 1956 to 1958 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He enjoyed playing many sports including baseball, football, bowling, skiing, golf and boating on the Hudson River. Larry worked for the US Post Office in Pearl River, NY and upon retirement as a mail clerk at Presidential Life Insurance, Nyack, NY.

He was affectionately known as "Uncle Larry” to his nieces, Laura Karlan, Susan (William) Martin, Janet (Terrence) Grahn, Michelle Capetillo, nephew, Gary Pia, and 11 great nieces and nephews and 9 great great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Gerald Pia, and sister-in-law, Doris Pia.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3-7pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10am St. Anthony’s Church followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
