Liberato A. Marzan of Nanuet, New York, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020. He was born on June 7, 1946 in Nueva Viscaya, Philippines to the late Aniceta and Miguel Marzan and was the fifth of seven siblings. Liberato attended the University of the East (Manila), graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Commerce, and later worked in the Bureau of Animal Industry and the Civil Service Commission Office in Metro Manila.
In 1983, Liberato emigrated to the United States, first living in Detroit, Michigan. He settled in New York and was employed with the New York City Department of Sanitation. Liberato finally retired in June 2017 after more than thirty years of dedicated and loyal service.
Liberato is survived by his wife, Cresencia B. Marzan, daughter, Catherine Marzan Azevedo, and son, Michael Marzan. He took extreme pride in his two grandchildren, Theodore John Azevedo (21 months) and Alessandra Lucia Azevedo (7 months).
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Liberato will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His incredible resilience led him to a path of success, and he demonstrated that, with spirit and fortitude, one can achieve anything in life. Liberato was a pillar of strength to his loved ones and will be dearly missed.
Private family services and burial were held on Friday, March 27th. A memorial service will be set at a future date.
