Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother

Mrs. Liliane Neptune (née Romane), 89, passed away suddenly on December 3rd at the

Medical University of South Carolina. A joyful celebration of her life will begin with a wake at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service in New City, NY on Friday, December 13th (2-4PM and 7-9PM) and will continue with a mass at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Nyack, NY on Saturday, December 14th (10AM). Liliane was born in Port Au Prince, Haiti on March 16, 1924 to parents Emma and Louis Romane. She married Felix Neptune in 1943 and together they raised 7 children. In 1964, Liliane immigrated to the United States with her husband joining her a year later. She and her husband rebuilt their lives despite the challenges of a new country and a new language. Liliane was the beloved matriarch of her large extended family who looked to her for guidance, inspiration and strength. She lived each day fully, not wanting to miss a moment to learn, have a new experience and spend time with those she loved. In times of stress and hardship she pushed forward, often saying, “What can you do?” as a means of reminding us that life isn’t always easy or fair. She spent her last weeks preparing for her annual trip to Costa Rica and making sure that every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would have a gift from her at Christmas.

Liliane was a lifelong Catholic who placed her faith in God, believing that all would turn

out according to His will. When she left us, she was surely greeted by her Lord and

ancestors with a loving hug and welcome. Liliane is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Felix Neptune (age 61), her daughter Elsie (age 3) and her son Gary (age 40). Liliane is survived by her children son Carol Neptune (Denise), daughter Marie-Liliane Cayo (Frantz), son Frantz Neptune (Maggie), daughter Regine Neptune and daughter Kharyne Neptune; her grandchildren Dominique Neptune (David), Brian Neptune, Matthew Neptune (Jessica), Frantz Cayo, Kevin Cayo (Marie-Pierre), Miriam Neptune-Valbrune (Maxime), Melissa Walsh (Daniel), Joshua Neptune (Diane), Patrick Neptune-Ceran and Nakeesha Neptune-Ceran; and her great-grandchildren Carter Neptune, Gabrielle Cayo, Hendrix Cayo, Gael Cayo, Elena Cayo, Yanic Valbrune, Max-Andre Valbrune, and Liliane Kathryn Neptune. She is also survived by her sisters, brother and sister-in laws and many loving nieces and nephews. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
