

Lorraine D. McAuliffe, 75, passed away on October 26, 2019, peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by loving family after a brief illness. She was born on July 25, 1944, in the Bronx. She was the daughter of Edward T. and Dorothy (McEntee) Lynch. For the last 47 years she has resided in the home she loved in Thiells, New York. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish in Garnerville.
Lorraine is survived by her beloved husband William F. whom she shared 49 1/2 years of wedded bliss. She is also survived by two cherished sons and dear daughter-in-laws William A. and Melissa of Washington Township, NJ, and Michael G.and Grace of New Windsor, NY. Along with four adoring grand-children Michael J., Emma, William L. and Christopher. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Edward G. and Kathy Lynch of Port Jefferson Station, NY. She is also survived brother-in-law Don Kopp and pre-deceased by her sister-in-law Geraldine (McAuliffe) Kopp of Bradenton, Florida. Lastly, she is survived by her nieces Victoria Lynch of Port Jefferson Station, NY, Donna McGrath of Bradenton, FL, and nephew William Kopp of Asheville, NC.
As a young lady Lorraine attended St. Angela Merici School and St. Pius Highschool in the Bronx. After graduating highschool Lorraine worked for the East River Savings Bank in New York City from the 1960's until 1972. She married the love of her life William in May of 1970. In 1972, they moved to Thiells, New York, and found the home of their dreams. From 1972 until 1988, Lorraine was a stay at home mom shuttling her boys to school, sports and activities. In the 1980's Lorraine was president of the Altar and Rosary Society for St. Gregory's Parish. She even ran for Town Supervisor of Haverstraw in 1984.
In 1988, she returned to the work force at Marine Midland/HSBC Bank in Suffern. Where she would achieve numerous performance awards and rise to Asst. Branch Manager. She retired from HSBC in 2008, after 20 years of service to the bank.
Some of Lorraine's favorite activities were yearly Christmas Eve dinners at Del Fresco's in New York City, playing her Quick Draw numbers, and occasional overnight trips to the casinos at Harrahs in Atlantic City, and Moheagn Sun in Connecticut. She traveled all over the world with her family to amazing places like Maui, the Grand Canyon, Eiffel Tower and the Vatican in Rome. She treasured week long vacations in Cape May, NJ, overlooking the ocean sunset from her hotel balcony.
The family will recieve family and friends on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home at 321 S. Main Street, New City, New York. Funeral Mass is on Wednesday 10am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, 21 Cinder Road, Garnerville, New York.
Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne NY.
