

Luigi Carmelo Versaci, of Nanuet, NY, formally of the Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 12, 2012. He was 79 years old. Luigi was born on July 3, 1932 in Staten Island to the late Benedetta and Cirino Versaci. He proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara; daughter Benedena Versaci and granddaughter Oliva of Nanuet, NY; son Charles Versaci and his wife Lynne and granddaughter Gia and grandson Christian of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Stepson Frank Vasquez-Negron and grandsons Frank and Paul; his sister Rose Lehrer and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Retired from Stella Doro in the Bronx, NY after 15 years. As a machinist and Union Shop Stewart, Mr. Versaci proudly served his fellow employees. He also was the owner of the Bossa Nova Bar and Lounge on 180th Street is the Bronx, NY, where he was known for his master mixology of the Tom Collins. Louie loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and various pets. He could always be found puttering in the yard with his prized tomatoes and beating many family members with his keen pinochle moves.
He is predeceased by his loving parents, brother Salvatore, and sisters Angie and Theresa. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10965. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Parish, 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY 10954, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 10:00am. Internment will be at Saint Raymond's in the Bronx.
