Mabel Desmond (Mae, Maisie) nee O'Brien from Nanuet passed away peacefully January 7, 2013. Mabel was born in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan where she lived until she married and moved to Dyckman Street in Manhattan. Mabel attended Julia Richmond High School and upon graduation worked for Irving Trust Bank. She married Albert Desmond and became a homemaker raising two children, Janice Kathleen and Robert (Mickey) Desmond. The family moved to Nanuet in 1960. Mabel belonged to Nanuet Seniors. Left to grieve are her daughter Janice, grandson Christopher Connolly and wife Lisa, great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Emily Connolly, her caretaker Debbie Spillane, as well as many friends and relatives, and her beloved Samson. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Desmond in 1989 and her son, Mickey Desmond, in 2008. Family will receive visitors at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 3-5pm and from 7-9pm and Thursday from 9-11:30am followed be a service at 12:00. Interment will be private.
