Margaret C. Schofield

Margaret C. Schofield of New City, NY, died on August 8, 2015. Born in 1926 in Manhattan to John and Ellen Clifford, she attended St. Catherine Academy and graduated in 1946 cum laude from Fordham University with a BS in Math and Physics and from NYU with a MS in Education. She was a devout Catholic and daily communicant at St. Augustine’s. She was also a lover of the arts and avid traveler. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John P. Schofield and her 3 children, Eileen (Thomas Herbertson) Short Hills, NJ, Jeanne (David Cosgrove) Short Hills, NJ and Paul (Sheila Corcoran) New City, NY and her 6 grandchildren, Maura Herbertson, Mary and Timothy Cosgrove, Kathleen, Amy and John Schofield. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Newcomb of Litchfield, CT. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and John Clifford. Margaret’s life celebration will include visitation on Tuesday August 11, 2015 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine RC Church, 140 Maple Avenue St., New City, N.Y.
