Marie DeLucia

Marie DeLucia, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, December 19, 2013 at the Kaplan Hospice in Newburgh, NY. Marie DeLucia was married to Michael DeLucia for 51 years before his passing in 2000. She is also predeceased by her brother, Michael Caprino. Marie was a resident of Rockland County since 1978, formerly from the Bronx and had recently moved with her sister Frances Caprino to Fishkill, New York to be closer to other family members and caretakers.

Born March 26, 1930 to Frank Caprino and Mary Durso, Marie is survived by her sister Frances Caprino and Marie’s children, Jeanette and Bill Scheedel, Mary and Dennis MacDougall, Camille and Tony Mazziotti. Marie has several grandchildren whose lives she always played an important role in – Christopher and Jenn Scheedel, James and Sarah MacDougall, Jennifer and Dan Wilson, Maria and Marco DiRusso, Christina and Terrence Pizzuti, Toni-Ann Mazziotti.

Marie was a loving mother whose interests were entirely devoted to raising her three daughters. Her greatest joy was spending her remaining years with her great-grandchildren Samantha, Gabriella, Michael, Madison, and Cayden.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all our friends, family and caregivers who have given their time and love to comfort Marie over the last several months. Your kindness will always be remembered. Family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc. A funeral mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Shrine Church on Monday at 11:30am. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
