Marie C. Demaio

Maria was born on August 11, 1947 to Benny and Josephine Quartarone in The Bronx, NY. She was proud to grow up in a Multi-Generational Italian home and would often be found cooking and spending time with her Grandparents upstairs. She would eagerly listen to their stories and ensure that their traditions would not be lost. She graduated from Aquinas High School in the Bronx and met the love of her life, Christopher Paul DeMaio. They decided to move “upstate” and bought their dream house to start their family. She relished in being a Mother and always prepared Italian Sunday dinners for family and friends. She became an active volunteer at West Nyack Little League and her claim to fame was cooking Sausage and Peppers at the snack stand because Hot Dogs weren’t enough for hungry families. Maria loved baseball and whether it was watching her children play or her Yankees, she never missed a game.

As her children married and grew, she easily transitioned to the role of Mom-Mom and it was by far, her greatest blessing. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and watch them swim in her pool for hours. She was so proud of their accomplishments and most importantly their genuine hearts.

Maria is survived by her dedicated children. Mia and Scot Orser of Congers, Christine and Nick Krasny of Congers, Christopher DeMaio and David Conner of Belmar, NJ and Michael and Nicole DeMaio of Congers. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Marissa, Daniella and Michaela Krasny, Scot and Joseph Orser and Mikey DeMaio. She also leaves behind her dedicated dog Holly who brought her so much joy.

She is predeceased by her parents Benny and Josephine Quartarone. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with husband Christopher who tragically passed away in 2007.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet on August 4, 2025 at 10am. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY at 11:30. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Maria’s name to United Hospice of Rockland.
