Marie was born in New Castle, Delaware on March 12, 1932, to Frances and William Phillips. She met her husband, Richard, while employed by the DuPont Company and after they were married, moved to Washington, D.C. Marie worked for the American Ordnance Association with offices in the Pentagon.
In 1962 they moved to West Nyack where Marie raised her family and was an active member of our community contributing to organizations such as the Clarkstown schools, Boy Scouts (Troop 4), West Nyack little league, and St. Anthony’s. In the early 1980’s Marie re-entered the business world as the Purchasing Manager for the ITW- Minigrip, Inc. in Orangeburg.
Marie learned to play the piano by ear while listening to her older siblings’ lessons. Her music flowed from the heart and could entertain a ballroom (her West Nyack living room) with nothing more than a thought and smile. She was passionate for and found joy in her family and faith as well as her music. Her firmly held convictions in life were inspiring.
She leaves 3 sons – Dr. David J. and wife Maria; Dr Douglas M. and wife Dr. Teresa; and Dr. Daniel P. and wife Dr. Diana; 6 grandchildren (four grand daughters and two grandsons). She is predeceased by beloved siblings Al and Gloria. She is survived by her brother, Colonel Joseph A. Phillips, (ret.) and his wife, Jane, of Texas.
