

Marilyn Pauline Diener passed away peacefully in her home on October 14th, at the age of 91. A beloved resident of Nanuet, NY for over 70 years, Marilyn lived a full life surrounded by family, faith, and friendship.
She is survived by her loving family:her son Billy Diener and his wife Doreen; her daughter Diane Volk (Diener)and son-in-law Michael Volk; along with her cherished grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Grandchildren: Tara Waters (Diener) and Brian Waters, Lindsey Smith (Diener) and Al Smith, Tyler Diener andJoanne Diener (Seorti) Brett McCormick(Diener) and Suzanne McCormick, Buddy Diener, Dana Volk and Karl Volk.
Born in the Bronx in December 1933 to Julius and Pauline Jurgens, Marilyn was an only child who began her faith journey at the First Lutheran Church of Throggs Neck, NY. Known affectionately by her family as“Gigi,”she loved the beach,reading,and hosting family gatherings—always making birthdays and holidays feel extra special. She also enjoyed many years in her local bowling league.
Marilyn worked in the dietary department at Nyack Manor Nursing Home for 26 years until 2005 and continued as a part-time receptionist there until 2018. She touched countless lives—always ready to listen, comfort, and share her wisdom.
A devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New City, NY, Marilyn served faithfully as a nursery schoolteacher, usher, and reader. Even when she could no longer attend services in person, she found great comfort in visits from Pastor Rhonda. Her faith remained steadfast throughout her life.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Meals on Wheels for their kindness, conversation, and care, as well as to A@T Home Care and Helen Hayes Hospital for their wonderful support.
A Memorial Service honoring Marilyn’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on November 2nd at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in her memory.
