Mary Ann Garrabrant

Mary Ann nee (Zimmerman) Garrabrant passed away on November 1, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Best known to her family and friends as Polly, she was predeceased by her husband Edward C. Garrabrant, whom she married on September 18, 1954. Edward passed away in May 2002. Also predeceased by her parents Mabel (Lacks) and Alton Zimmerman, as well as her sister Patricia Simpson.

Polly leaves behind her beloved children, daughter Kathy Fleckenstein and a loving son-in-law Steven, her son Keith Garrabrant and a devoted and loving Daughter-in-law Maureen, as well as her beloved grandchildren Kristine and Anthony Guaciaro, Ryan and Nicole, and great grandson James Garrabrant, Kelly Garrabrant, and Kyle Garrabrant, and two nieces Sandra Daly and Nancy Malone, as well as her dear friends, Alice Huffman, Elaine Csemelabics and Lea Fleckenstein.

Born and raised in Nyack, she attended St Ann’s school and was a graduate of Nyack High School.

Polly was retired from BOCES, West Nyack, as well as from A&P Corporation Headquarters, Montvale, NJ, where she held the position of Administrative Assistant to the CFO. She was an active member of Congers I Senior Citizens (Table 1). Polly travelled to many counties and enjoyed making desserts for her family and friends, reading mysteries, movies, dining out and going dancing, being with friends and family as well as her Thursday and Friday nights with her grandsons.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 4th from 3-7pm at Michael J Higgins Funeral Service in New City. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Germond’s Cemetery in New City, NY.
