Mary was born on July 1, 1935 to John and Elizabeth McCole of the Woodlawn section of the Bronx. She attended St. Barnabas School from 1st through 12th grade and graduated from The Katherine Gibbs School.
Mary was a beloved figure in the New City Post Office where she had worked, always greeting people with a broad smile. She was known to all who met her as a loving and caring person. She always reminded us that there are no bad people in the world as long as you looked for the good. Mary and Dan happily opened their home to anyone who needed it, including many Irish nephews whom they treated as their own.
Mary participated in many community activities throughout her 50 years as a New City resident including the Ladies Auxiliary and the West Nyack Senior Citizen Club. She felt especially blessed to have been a Eucharistic Minister at St. Augustine’s Parish for many years. Recently Mary was thrilled to have gone to San Diego with her son John to meet her great granddaughter Natalie Anne.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Daniel Mullane. She is survived by her son John Mullane of New City, her daughter Patricia Vieira (Carlos) of Long Island, her sister, Barbara McCole (Judy Andersen) of New City, her grandchildren Caitlin Mullane (Kurtis Robinson), Danny, Sean and Erin Vieira, great granddaughter Natalie Anne Mullane and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a very close group of lovely ladies. Mary is also predeceased by her beloved friend Dave Reilly whose incredible immediate and extended family treated her like one of their own.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10am, at St. Augustine’s Church, New City, followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
