Mary C. Pecorella, a loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on the evening of her 87th birthday, Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Predeceased by her former husband, James J. Pecorella, she is survived by her daughters Caryn and Jeanine (husband Nick), her son Marc (wife Mina), five grandchildren: Sabrina (Caryn), Kevin and Erin (Jeanine), and Gregory and Heather (Marc), and numerous loving sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1928. She entered the workforce as a secretary after graduating from high school. After taking time off to raise her children, Mary became a much valued secretary in the Personnel/Compliance Department of Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder, a Wall Street area investment firm. She remained with the company for 20 years. Whether at work or at leisure, Mary will always be best known for her unparalleled selflessness. She put the needs of others before her own and worked for the comfort of her family and friends even as her own health declined. Mary was a humble follower of God’s teachings, and she was always as quick to forgive as she was to help. She lived by the philosophy best expressed in her words: “That’s why they put erasers on the ends of pencils.” A lover of travel, Mary’s wandering heart happily took her on her final earthly birthday to her best deserved adventure: a joyous reunion in Heaven with her beloved parents, Marianna and Gaetano, and her six wonderful brothers, Joseph, Peter, Alphonse, Philip, Charles (Chuck), and Alfred. May they celebrate their reunion in our Lord’s name forever. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, 10am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Nyack, followed by entombment at St. Anthony’s Mausoleum, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
