Matthew taught me how to truly let go of stress, also the anxiety wrapped around it, while pursuing and enjoying what’s important in the short time we have on this planet. There is a confidence that he helped refine within myself and it is a gift I have tried to bestow upon others. It is like a superpower when you can live without fear when you have: good friends, amazing music and grand dreams to pursue - a result of the lessons learned from him. Hopefully we do what we can to leave a positive impact on those we bring close to us and leave behind in our passing. 

I knew Matt back in 2010 when we became regulars at the same shows.  I think he was attending St. Rose, and I was at NSRT, and we bonded over a passion for live music.  Every time I saw him, he greeted me with that unforgettable smile and a signature, "What's up, buddy?"  I can still picture both vividly.

I enjoyed attending his events and could sense his enjoyment when dropping those smooth grooves on us.  I can honestly say that he is a part of some of the most fond memories of my life; Davidi, Karl, Bito, Berger -- that was the crew I expected to see at every show, and I usually did.  We were all just charged particles reverberating in a space that could only contain us for so long, and I personally was ready to head out West just as soon as I could; I left in September of 2011, but if I would have known then what I know now, I would have made it last just a little longer.

I am just discovering Matt's passing at this very moment, and by way of something I can hardly explain.  I was flipping through videos of jambands at festivals from years past, and I started thinking of those familiar faces.  Matt was one I always wondered what happened to, and it's a shame to find out this way.  Ironically, the more friends I seem to lose these days, the more I realize that they will be with me until the day I take my eternal rest.  The next jam I play is for Matt.  

Rest in Power, brother.  Catch you on the other side.

I am very grateful to have had the chance to know and work with Matthew. He was an incredibly warm, kind hard working young man.  He touched everyone that he came in contact with at LVMH.  We will miss him terribly and are devastated at his passing. We send all our thoughts and prayers to the family during this sad time.
