Born on November 16, 1938, in Foyle, Cork, Ireland, Maurice immigrated to the United States, embodying the American dream while always remaining deeply proud of his Irish heritage. He honorably served his adopted country in the U.S. Air Force before embarking on a distinguished 36-year career with the NYPD, where his leadership and integrity guided him to the rank of Inspector. Committed to the highest standards of law enforcement, he was a proud graduate of the FBI National Academy and earned his Master of Public Administration from Fordham University and John Jay College.
Maurice was an intensely family-oriented man who felt truly blessed by the love that filled his life. He was uniquely fortunate to have shared his journey with two truly remarkable women: his late wife, Rosemary, and his surviving wife, Arlene Buckley. He took immense pride in his children, John(Cara), Kevin(Erin), Eileen(Mark), step-children Lenny(Lisa), Karen(Ray) and Dana(Jon), and delighted in the joy of his many grandchildren.
He will be remembered as a dedicated public servant, a proud Irish-American, and above all, a devoted family man who cherished every moment with those he loved.
