He was born on July 13, 1950, in Englewood, New Jersey.Mike was a devoted husband to Patty DiLorenzo and a proud father to Carol, Michelle, Katelyn, and Mike. He was a loving grandfather to Dakota, Colin, and Shane, and a great-grandfather to Sawyer.
A lifelong problem-solver and craftsman, Mike worked for many years as a plumbing and heating contractor. He took immense pride in his work and in building things with his own hands—including the home where his family grew up. He was the kind of person who never quit; when something needed fixing, he figured it out.
Mike was also a certified boat captain and a highly skilled boat handler, respected by fellow boaters for his knowledge and ability. Boating was one of his greatest passions, and he especially loved time spent at the family’s seasonal home at the Jersey Shore, as well as being out on the Hudson River. He was a natural teacher—generous with his skills and always willing to help others learn, whether on the water or on the job.
Laid back, hardworking, and quietly strong, Mike faced life’s challenges with resilience and never complained. He battled and beat cancer twice earlier in his life with remarkable strength.
He loved boating, being on the water, and enjoying good food—both cooking for others and dining out. Those who knew him will remember his calm presence, his steady hands, and the way he showed love through action.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Parlor, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956.
