Michael Gilbride

Michael Gilbride, age 90, of New City, passed away August 16, 2015. He was born January 29, 1925 in Swanlinbar, County Cavan, Ireland, to Michael and Bridget Gilbride. Michael arrived in the United States in 1947 and served in the US Army in the Korean War with honor and valor. He later became a very proud citizen of the United States. Michael worked as a sub-station electrician at Orange and Rockland Utilities and retired after 30 years of service. Michael, a servant of God, will be lovingly remembered by his family, including his wife of 59 years, Mary (nee Costello); his 6 children and 14 grandchildren; Brian (Pia, Ryan/Kylie/Blaise) Gilbride, Thomas (Barbara, Jillian/Conor/Meaghan) Gilbride, Donna (Bill, Brittany/Sean/Alex/Jenna) Zervoulias, Michael (Nancy, Katherine/Elizabeth) Gilbride, Paul (Katherine, Michael/Jean) Gilbride and Deirdre (Joseph) Nery. Michael is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Bossenberry of California, and brother, Bernard Gilbride, of New Jersey. Michael is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Patrick Gilbride and Andrew Gilbride, and 2 sisters; Agnes Gilbride and Mary Pitts. His family will receive friends Wednesday, August 19 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 20 at 10am at St. Augustine RC Church, 140 Maple Avenue, New City NY, with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
