 It’s so hard to believe that a young man with such a zest for life has been taken from us all. He is remembered fondly here in Warkworth NZ, no one who met him during his visit here has ever forgotten his kindness, humour and sense of fun.  At the wedding he travelled down for he got to know every guest personally and became a legendary figure in our family’s stories. Mikey embraced with vigour the kiwi summer lifestyle, jumping off boats, barbecuing every night, swimming in the surf and of course sampling the local beers.  We were fortunate enough to visit him in Monivea where he won a heart my teaching my Michael how to pour the perfect Guinness.  A true gentleman in every sense of the word who will never be forgotten down here at the bottom of the world. Our sincere condolences, prayers and love to his family.

Rest in pease  Mikey

There are many words to describe people who are truly special but the word for Mikey is...irreplaceable. Such a gentleman whose warm and ebullient nature was infectious, a fabulous friend who made such a wonderful and positive impression on all he met.  He was a truly unique guy whom I was lucky enough to call my friend.
We shared some great times full of fun and laughter on and off the racetracks. I will very much miss his quick wit and turn of phrase coupled with his wry smile. 
My sincere condolences to his Dad and sister, Kara, all the extended Vaughan family and his beloved friends. The world was certainly a better and brighter place because of Mikey. Thank you for sharing him with us.

I had only recently met Mike, and I am so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.  He was such a sweet and genuine person, and he always brought a smile. I will miss him and send my deepest sympathy to his family.

Words seem inadequate .... we are truly devastated and heartbroken at the sudden and untimely passing of our dear friend Mikey. We are heartbroken for him as he had such a zest for life and he has gone before his time. We are also heartbroken for his dad Mike and for his cherished sister Kara, Ger and hIs adored nieces Niamh and Katie and the extended Vaughan and Culkin families. He idolised you all. Mikey had time for everyone and everyone had time for Mikey. We will treasure the memories we have of him. We will never forget his good humour, warm smile, his friendship, his charisma and his natural acting ability which brought such joy to so many. Mikey‘s memory will certainly live on. Rest in Peace our dear friend.

I was lucky enough to know Mike,  as I called him,  for about 7 years,  certainly long enough to know what a total Gem he was but not long enough still.   I will miss him enormously,  we messaged regularly and not a day goes by where I don't think, "Oh Mike would love that, I'll send it to him. "....... but my grief is nothing in comparison to the lifetime of love he shared for his family, his home town,  his theatre friends and many many others he connected with or made laugh along the way.
