

Modesto “Tin” Cotto was born on February 24, 1932 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family gathered by his side as he joined the heavens on March 7, 2020.
Modesto spent a majority of his youth in Puerto Rico. During this time, he was able to protect and honor Puerto Rico whilst serving in the National Guard. In his late teenage years, he relocated with his family to Manhattan, New York. Modesto would later go on to reunite with a childhood friend, who became the love of his life and ultimately his wife. They married and remained married through his death, for over sixty five years. Dedicated and loyal, Modesto supported his wife and family by working at the Manhattan Transit Authority, where he worked for thirty plus years before retiring.
In death, Modesto was surrounded by the same love and care that he showed to all throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his adoring wife, Rosaura Cotto, and brother, Juan Arzuaga; four beautiful children Mildred (Geronimo) Rodriguez, Nancy (Lenin) Giler, Edwin (Annie) Cotto, and Maribel (Orlando) Tirado; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will take place on Wednesday, March 11 from 7:00 – 9:00pm and Thursday, March 12 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home. A Catholic service will take place at 6:30pm on Thursday.
