

Nicholas was born in Brooklyn on September 29, 1940 to Vito and Ann Longo (nee Ruvolo). In 1967 he moved from the Bronx to Rockland County.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, son Nicholas Jr. (Jennifer), daughter Catherine and granddaughter Sophia Rose.
Nick worked for Williamsburg Steel and later in Rockland owned The Italian Village Deli and Godfather Pizza in Valley Cottage.
Since 1978 Nick has served the people of the Town of Clarkstown through both elected and appointed positions in town government: first as Councilman and Deputy Supervisor until 1981, then as Confidential Aide to the Supervisor before being elected Superintendent of Highways in 1983. Finally, to the position of Sole Assessor in The Town of Clarkstown until his retirement in 2002.
Nick has obtained the designation of State Certified Assessor Advanced in addition to the national designations of Certified Review Appraiser and Registered Mortgage Underwriter. He was also a licensed Real Estate Broker and Notary Public.
Nick has distinguished himself as well through dedicated service to numerous civic and political organizations. He was a Vice Chairman of the New York State Conservative Party, Chairman of the Rockland County Conservative Party, President of the West Nyack Rotary, President of the Rockland County Assessors' Association, President of the New York State Assessors Association, as well as several other organizations.
Nick was a proud Italian American, an accomplished cook of Sicilian cuisine which he learned from his Grandmother Concetta. A die-hard Yankee fan, an avid animal lover and faith-based person who was a firm believer in the sanctify of life.
Nick was educated by the Salesians of Don Bosco and later in life continued as a Eucharistic Minister and Altar Server at the Marian Shrine.

Visitation will be at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Wednesday February 14, 2024, from 3 – 7 pm and Funeral Mass at The Marian Shrine in Stony Point on February 15 at 10am and internment at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave Mahwah NJ 07430
