Norma Ann Provenzano (née Pinto), a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished aunt, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on August 1, 1932, in the Bronx, NY, Norma spent much of her life in the Bronx, Tioga County, and Rockland County, New York. She later moved to Ontario, California, where she played a vital role in raising her beloved grandchildren, before returning to Rockland County to be near family.
Norma was a woman of deep Catholic faith, holding a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her spirituality was a guiding light throughout her life, and her strength, grace, and compassion left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A gifted artist, Norma found joy in oil painting, needlepointing, wooden model ship building, completing puzzles, and anything to keep her hands busy. Her creativity and attention to detail were evident in all that she did. She was known for her gentle spirit, sense of humor, fiery compassion, and unconditional love for her family.
Norma is survived by her loving children, Michael Provenzano and Janet Provenzano, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Daniel and Whitney Bannowsky. She also leaves behind many devoted nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, and the memory of her three sisters—Carmen, Phyllis, and Mavis—who predeceased her.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Saint Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison, NY, followed by a Mass of Catholic Burial at 12:30 PM. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
Norma’s family finds comfort knowing she is at peace and reunited with loved ones in Heaven. Her kindness, faith, and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a Mass be celebrated in Norma’s honor at your local Catholic parish.
