Obituary of Patricia M Dusza
Patricia M. Dusza of Nanuet, NY passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 7th, surrounded by family. She was 90 years old. The daughter of Walter B. and Helena C. Mansfield, she was born in Schenectady, NY, on May 4th, 1932. A graduate of Niskayuna High School and the University of Massachusetts, where she studied English literature. She married the late Dr. John P. Dusza in 1959 and moved to Nanuet, NY, where they raised their 6 children. Patricia was a consummate creative force and active in her community. She was a member, and former President, of the Heritage Quilters of the Hudson/Palisades. She loved to teach quilting, needlework, and knitting at Rockland County community centers and for Adult Education. She served on the Clarkstown Litter Control Board, volunteered at Meals on Wheels, and worked as an election poll worker for many years. Famous for growing delicious tomatoes and beans each summer, and for making top-notch apple pies from scratch. Patricia was a parishioner of The Church of St. Anthony in Nanuet, NY where she taught religion classes and was a member of the Blessed Mother’s Sodality. Her beloved husband of 58 years, John, predeceased her in 2017. Patricia is survived by her six children: Ann of East Greenbush, NY; Jane of Great Barrington, MA; John and Yvette of Warren, NJ; Katie and John Duke of W. Nyack, NY; Sheila and Michael Toto of Feeding Hills, MA; and Stephen and Tina of Louisville, KY; her seven grandchildren Trevor Stanhope, Jeremy Stanhope, John Jay Dusza, Nina Dusza, Caroline Toto, Thomas Dusza and Ryan Dusza; and her loving nieces, nephews, and relatives. Pat’s kind, gentle and loving presence will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Visiting will be held on Thursday, May 12 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A funeral mass to celebrate Pat’s life will be held on Friday, May 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Anthony in Nanuet.
