Patricia Horan

Patricia Horan (Pat), 80 of Montebello, NY, formerly of West Nyack, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2020 surrounded by family. Pat was born on September 8, 1940 to Thomas and Mary Whalen. She grew up in Brooklyn but fell in love with a boy from the Bronx. Pat married Frank Horan on August 26, 1961. They moved to New City and shared 56 years of love, laughter, and joy. Pat’s entire life was centered on family. Her beloved Frank preceded her in death in 2018, and she is survived by their five devoted children: Kevin (Jennifer), John (Christine), Maureen (Charles) Hampsey, Christine (Peter) Curtin, Tricia (Doug) Strey, fourteen beloved grandchildren, two sisters: Mary Worthey and Eileen Cotter, three sisters-in-law: Mary Hogan, Eileen Sweeney, and Kathleen Kelly, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Whalen. While raising her family, Pat worked for the Clarkstown, East Ramapo, and Mamaroneck School Districts.

Pat was a people person who loved a cup of tea and a chat. She never wanted to leave the party. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and her house was a home to many. There was always room at her table. Pat was known for her hospitality and her opinions; both were limitless.

Pat was an avid tennis player at the West Nyack Swim Club where she made many life-long friends. A “card shark,” Pat enjoyed poker and bridge. She also loved a bargain, a good book, Sunday dinners, and annual family reunions at the Jersey Shore.

Those who loved her will miss her laughter and her warmth. Her life was our blessing.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 3-7 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 11:30 at St. Francis Church, West Nyack, NY.
