Patricia E O'Kane

Patricia E. (McMahon) O’Kane, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away on August 8, 2021. Pat, the oldest daughter of New York Fire Department Battalion Chief Edward F. McMahon and Ellen (Tully) McMahon (3 Children), grew up in the Bronx, New York. She was a graduate of Saint Barnabus High School and took business classes at Grace Institute in Manhattan. For a period of time, Pat worked as a bookkeeper until she met the love of her life, Daniel J. O’Kane Sr., also from the Bronx, marrying in 1955. Pat and Dan had three sons and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Dan’s passing in 2013.

After leaving the Bronx in 1960, Pat and Dan moved to New Jersey, Ohio and ultimately settled in New City NY. in 1972 (Later moving to Stony Point). Pat was always involved, be it organizing church dances, class trips, bake sales or just chauffeuring her three boys to their various school activities at St. Augustine’s in New City or Don Bosco in Ramsey, New Jersey. She volunteered at Nyack Hospital for nearly 30 years and worked part time at Gelbart Jewelers in New City to support her habit of buying nice things for her grandchildren.

In her younger years, Pat played basketball, was an avid bowler, and later took to playing golf, bridge and mahjong at Rockland Country Club. Pat and Dan traveled extensively and enjoyed spending quality time with family. Pat is survived by her three sons Daniel J. O’Kane Jr., Kevin O’Kane, Catherine (Bibeau) O’Kane, Brian O’Kane, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Family will receive visitors on Thursday, 8/12 from 4-8 at Michael J. Higgins Inc. in New City; Funeral mass will take place on Friday, 8/13 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack; Burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont.
