

Paul G. McCullagh, a resident of the Bronx, NY for over 25 years, suddenly passed away on April 11, 2026. He was 58 years old. Paul was born in Manhattan, NY on February 20, 1968, the first of three children born to Joseph McCullagh and Barbara (Wuest) McCullagh. Paul grew up in Garnerville, NY, and he graduated as salutatorian from Don Bosco High School in Ramsey, NJ. He then went on to attend Boston College where he graduated with a BA in Political Science and Philosophy. Paul continued his studies at The Catholic University of America where he received his MA in Religious Studies and his law degree. Paul began his career in law enforcement as an ADA in Bronx County and later served as an associate at a law firm in New Rochelle, NY. Paul joined the NYPD in 2003, beginning his tenure in the Department Advocate’s Office.
He transitioned to the Office of Labor in 2006, where he was later promoted to Executive Agency Counsel, then to Director, and eventually to Executive Director of Labor Relations in 2022. Paul was admitted to the New York and New Jersey State Bars, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and District of New Jersey. Paul was an avid traveler and cherished his yearly trips with the Purtell family and his annual visit to Gettysburg, PA, where he enjoyed learning about the history of the Civil War and was even interested in becoming a Civil War Battlefield Guide. Paul was also his family’s resident historian as he enjoyed learning about the stories of his ancestors and his family’s genealogy.
Paul was predeceased by his father Joseph. He is survived by his mother Barbara; his sisters Joan and Carol; his niece Samantha and nephew Ryan; and many cousins. He will be forever loved and missed.
A wake will be held at Micheal J. Higgins Funeral Service from 3 to 7 PM on Sunday, April 19, 2026. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10 AM on Monday April 20, 2026. Internment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
