Philip J. Decker, 64 of Pearl River, NY peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus on November 30, 2017 after a long battle with dementia. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
Phil was born in Bronx, NY on June 3, 1953 to the late Harry and Angelina Decker. He was a devoted family man, who had a contagious laugh and passionate love for the Lord. For more than 25 years, Phil was a member of New City Gospel Fellowship, serving in many capacities including his role as a Scoutmaster of the church’s Boy Scout Troop. Phil’s jokes and incredible sense of humor could make anyone smile. He had a profound impact on people everywhere he went, including his faithful 40 years working as a regional Vice President at Apple Bank.
Phil married his wife and soulmate, Kathleen, 36 years ago. They have three children, Kristen, Brian (Cara), and Meghan, as well as a beautiful granddaughter, Brea Eve, who he loved with all his heart. Phil was predeceased by his brother, Robert Decker.
Visiting hours will be held at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY on Sunday December 3 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held at 7:30pm. Those who knew Phil are also invited to join the family for the burial on Monday December 4. A short service will be held at the funeral home starting at 10am, followed by the burial at Gethsemane Cemetery at Rockland Lake.
