Our beloved mother and grandmother, Philomena' Philie' Scott passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the age of 101.
Philie was born on November 4, 1923 to Frank & Freda Fasano in Central Nyack, New York, and was a resident of Bardonia, New York, for 76 years.
Philie graduated from Nyack High School in 1941 and worked in the offices of Clarkstown Schools for 22 years, retiring in 1988 and has kept many lifelong friendships all these years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Frederick Scott. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia ‘Ginny’ McLauchlan and a son, Fred Scott (Beth). She and her husband enjoyed many travels including trips to Alaska, Hawaii & Australia. Philie has three grandchildren, Jenna (Greg), Bryan (Cass) & Kelly (Jon) and three great grandchildren, Aspen, Nola & Lincoln as well as four step grands, Kevin, Katie (Daniel), Erin and Meghan, and four step great grands, Ryane, Scarlett, Cameron and Theo. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces & nephews.
Philie was a caring wife and mother, devoted friend and a generous neighbor. She enjoyed being a longtime member of the St Anthony’s and Nanuet Seniors groups.
Philie had a bright and warm personality that was contagious and encouraging. She loved to sing at the drop of a hat and her infectious laugh and kind spirit brought a smile to everyone she met. She always kept up with everyone’s birthday; either by a handwritten card, a sweet phone call or a singing voicemail.
If you asked her what her secret was to such a long and happy life, she would say ‘Apples & Laughter.’ She was truly the best, and for anyone who knew her, she will be dearly missed.
A private family burial and a celebration of Philie’s life will be held at a later date.
