Phyllis Marie Holgerson

Phyllis Holgerson (nee Weng) of Kingsbridge in the Bronx, NY passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. She was predeceased by Robert, her loving husband of almost 70 years just 6 months prior. She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws, Patty & Jimmy and Cathy & Michael, her four grandchildren - Kristen (Michael), Andrew (Griselle), Sean (Amanda) and Timothy (Amanda), as well as her 4 great-grandchildren - AJ, Jack, Cody and Lily. She is also survived by her cousin, Jimmy (Ronnie).

Phyllis was born in Brooklyn but called the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx home for most of her life. In 1949, she met the love of her life, Robert, at the RKO Theater. Their love story lasted a lifetime, and she devoted every day to loving him until he passed away in December. Those who knew Phyllis understood that a part of her heart had gone with him. Though her family is heartbroken, they find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with the love of her life.

Phyllis dedicated more than 30 years of her life to the New York City Public Schools, working at PS 7 in the Bronx. After retiring, she and Robert embraced every opportunity to enjoy life together, spending many years taking day trips with the senior citizen groups they belonged to. No matter where they went, they were always side by side.

Above all else, Phyllis cherished her family. She rarely missed a milestone, celebration, or special occasion, always showing up with love and support. Her children, grandchildren, and eventually her great-grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Eileen, whose loving care and devotion meant so much to Phyllis (and Robert). You cared for them with compassion, respect, and kindness, treating them as family. Your support during their final years will never be forgotten, and our family will always be grateful.

A wake will be held on Sunday, June 28 from 3:00 - 7:00 at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY A funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 29 at 10:30 at Grace Episcopal Church, 130 First Ave. Nyack, NY followed by a burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings on Hudson, NY.
