She was born to the late Amelia and Adolfo Castillo, January 25, 1935, in Mayaguez, P.R. Provi came to New York in 1946 with her mom, sister Gail, and late brother William who all lived in the Bronx for many years.
In 1955 she was married to Martin Newman and even though divorced for many years have always shown mutual love and respect for each other. They moved to our childhood home in 1963 and mom continued to live there up until her passing. Provi is survived by her sister Gail DeCicco, of Morristown; three children: Carol Newman, of New City; Steven Newman and his wife Karen, of Berkley Heights; and Sharon DiTirro and her husband Tony, of Valley Cottage. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Theresa Weber, Frank DiTirro, Arielle Newman, and Brianna Newman; and one great-grandchild Violet Weber.
Provi was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was loved by so many including some life-long friends and neighbors. She was extremely generous and passed her appreciation of giving to others to all her children. Provi was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful and loving memories.
Due to Covid restrictions Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 am followed by Funeral Service at 12:00 pm for the immediate family only.
