
Ralph Maffei, a resident of New City, NY passed away on December 10, 2011 at the age of 61. Ralph was born on December 23, 1949 in Bronx, NY to Nicholas and Nettie Maffei. He served his country in the United States Army. Ralph worked for Verizon for 35 years. As a retiree, he worked for the Clarkstown Bus Garage. When he passed away, he was surrounded by his loving wife, children, brothers, sister, and his childhood friend. Ralph leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years and childhood sweetheart, Jacqueline; his daughter Dr. Jacqueline Maffei-Lewis and her husband Steven Lewis of New City, son Joseph Maffei of Brooklyn; Grandsons Nicholas and Michael Lewis, who were his heart and soul; mother Nettie Maffei and brothers Nicholas Maffei and Michael Maffei of Westchester County; brothers-in-laws Michael and Frank Zambetti and sister in law Peggy Zambetti; many nieces and nephews and Angela and Marty Zambetti. Ralph was predeceased by his father Nicholas Maffei. Ralph was a true friend and had a heart purer than gold. All who knew him loved him for his fast wit, gentleness, and soft spoken ways; A uniquely generous person who was always willing to help. There was nothing he would not do for his family. In addition, Ralph was a major sports fan and was a diehard Met fan. For all these wonderful things and more, Ralph will be truly missed and impossible to forget. Friends may call on Wednesday December 14th from 7-9pm and Thursday December 15th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Ralph’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 16th at 10:15am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Military Honors will follow.
