Raymond migrated to the United States 31 years ago to join his beloved sister, Leonide and her loving family; Frantz Michel, Fabiana Michel and Fechnel Michel. Quickly after, his wife and children followed where he continued to be a provider for his family. He worked diligently for 10 years and retired to be a doting grandfather to his grandchildren; often attending school events and activities. He loved them fiercely and grew closer to his children in the process.
Raymond was born in Fonds-Des-Blancs, Haiti to Lerich Vilsaint and Sibona Vilsaint (née Lafleur) on May 1, 1940. He was the second born son of the family. He attended primary school in the commune of Acquin with his siblings. Raymond was adamant to be independent, so he started his own farming business to earn his own way. He also was extremely close to his mother and assisted her in various business ventures. As Raymond’s farming business grew, he built his own home in search of a wife. He later met Olande Michel, whom he married on November 21, 1970, and raised five children and established themselves as pillars in the Fonds-Des-Blancs community.
As a father, Raymond was very tough but fair; his consistency as a family man, a brother, an uncle and a friend was admirable to all. He was the epitome of a provider who understood his responsibility as the head of the household. He will forever live in our hearts.
