I was numb when I received the news of your passing .. it was an absolute pleasure to know you and thank you for the genuine conversations that we shared .. I will miss them!! You were a great man and anyone who knew you .. were truly Blessed!!! I will never forget you and may your soul rest in Eternal peace my friend .. Michelle McGregor ..

Goodbye, Richard the Kind-Hearted,

     We first met in the hall by the library, where you greeted me and the students with your cheerful "Good Morning!" From our very first conversation —about your trips to Florida and Jamaica, and your favorite restaurants and nightspots in Harlem—I knew you had a gift for brightening people's days. 
     Before long, you were promoted to the front door entrance, where your warm greetings welcomed everyone who walked through. They truly put the best out front!
     You never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and there was never a bad word said about you. I often heard you offer words of encouragement, lifting the spirits of all around you.  I could always depend on you to announce a visitor, receive a package, or stop by to lend a helping hand. 
     Sadly, it's time to say goodbye, Richard. Your kindness, positivity, and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.

My friend.  Rich was my friend and friends are hard to come by but he was very special to me.   Words can’t explain how I feel right now to lose someone who been with you almost from birth.  We spoke on the phone all the time about how we grew up and had many laughs each and every time.  I will miss the check up calls all the time from you.  For now goodbye my friend may God keep you and comfort you love you Richard my dude my homey MY FRIEND

i am shocked to hear of Rich's passing.  It is so unexpected!  Rich always looked after me as I went to my car in the evenings from work.  He kept an eye on me and always said hello here at Finkelstein, his other family besides the school.  Such a loss for us all.  praying that his family will be reminded of his good and sweet nature when memories get tough.  He was too young.  May he rest in peace in God's care.

I have known Rich since I came to Ramapo in November 2018. He always spoke, asked if I was doing ok and often treated me to a breakfast sandwich, coffee or whatever he was getting to eat. Never a harsh word about anyone and I appreciated that. He helped celebrate birthdays with the Caribbean Crew…adding funny antics and laughter to the dinner  conversations.  He will be missed dearly. To the Oates family…you are in my thoughts and praying for your strength and God’s comfort.

Rich was a cherished member of our Ramapo High School family. For many years, Rich was an integral part of our school family, building meaningful connections with students, faculty, and staff. Known as our “gentle giant,” he was a warm and welcoming presence at the front door. Each day, Rich ensured students found their buses by diligently organizing and communicating bus locations, always ready to assist with any questions. He will be remembered for his kind, empathetic, and approachable nature. Rich truly loved his role, thriving on interactions with students, parents, and colleagues while always looking out for everyone’s well-being. His absence will be deeply felt.

My deepest condolences to the entire family at this time.   May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.
