Richard Rapelye, 89, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on June 29, 2025.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Lucille; his two sons, Kevin and Thomas; and his five grandchildren, Natasha, Trillian, Matthew, Raiden, and Lydia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army. After his service, he owned and operated his own tile company before going on to work for the County of Rockland. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Richard was loved by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 6, from 3:00–7:00 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY. A funeral Mass will take place on Monday, July 7, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church, 118 South Main Street, New City, NY.
