Rose Bersito, 97, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on July 9, 2018. Rose, one of seven children, was born to Angelo Bersito and Maria Gabriele Bersito on August 12, 1920 in Mt Vernon, New York where she lived for most of her life and worked as a seamstress at J. Rose Company. She moved to Nanuet NY twelve years ago while living with her sister, Anna, and for the past couple of years was living in Cresskill, NJ. Rose was a devoted and loving Aunt, great Aunt, and great great Aunt to many, while almost everyone who knew her also called her “Aunt Rosie”. Although she never married or had any children of her own, numerous nieces and nephews considered her like a second mother, a role which she cherished and excelled at. She is predeceased by her parents, and siblings, Nunzio Bersito, Sam Bersito, Fiore Bersito, Frank Bersito, Carmella Bernardi and Anna Condello. She will be missed for her appropriately named “ro-ro cookies”, her perfectly shaped potatoes and eggs, her incredibly generous sewing expertise, and her humorous family stories.
Visiting will be held on Friday, July 13th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 14th, 10:00am at St. Anthony's Parish Church followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made directly to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
