On July 5th, 2010, as per her wishes, Salvina “Sylvia” Mazzucco passed away at home. Sylvia had been fighting multiple myeloma and its resulting complications before her death this past Monday. A strong woman, she fought through to the end with her family at her side. Sylvia was a woman who only improved the lives of those she knew. The size of her generosity was only surpassed by that of her heart. Sylvia was a hairdresser at Unisex Palace in Nanuet, NY for 34 years. Survived by her devoted husband, Gino; her daughters, Lisa and her husband Vito Denaro, Angela and her husband Davide Guarino, and Antonette and her husband Jeff Kmetz; a sister, Nina Arena, and 5 grandchildren. Visiting will be at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY on Wednesday July 7th from 7-9 pm and Thursday July 8th from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. Her mass will be held Friday at 9:45 am at St. Boniface Church in Wesley Hills, NY.
