Sarah Elizabeth McTigue

February 5, 1939 – May 15, 2025

Sarah Elizabeth McTigue, age 86, of New City, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Born in Manhattan in 1939, Sarah was a woman of remarkable strength and determination. She dedicated her life to her family, always placing their needs above her own. Sarah worked full-time until the age of 78, exemplifying an unwavering work ethic and independence. Even after retirement, she remained active and engaged, known for her sharp memory and daily interest in Jeopardy.

She is survived by her three children: Thomas and his wife Jennifer, Maureen and her husband Frank, and Robert and his wife Sylvia. She was a cherished grandmother to Ryan, Alexandra, Taylor, Frank Thomas, Rory, and Declan, and a beloved great-grandmother to Riley and Jaxon.

A visitation for Sarah will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine’s Parish, 140 Maple Ave, New City, NY 10956, followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954.
