Seymour R Schwartz

Seymour (Sy) Schwartz of New City, NY, 87 years old, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara, his daughter Suzanne, son-in-law Jonathan, grandson Alex, and son Peter. He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis.

Sy was born in New York, NY to Benjamin and Anna Schwartz on August 4, 1938. Despite growing up in the Bronx, he was a N.Y. Mets fan since the team began in the early 1960s. What he loved more than baseball was his family. Sy married Barbara on September 7, 1970.

Sy graduated from the City College of New York and spent much of his career in the insurance industry. He was an excellent card player, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and Broadway musicals. He was a kind and generous person who will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, US, on July 23, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location on July 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, 140 N Highland Ave, Nyack, NY 10960, US, on July 23, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
