Sr. Maureen Patricia Bradshaw

Born in New York City on March 12, 1951, Maureen was the daughter of Edward and Rosena McNulty Bradshaw. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary on February 2, 1975. She professed first vows in 1977 and final vows in 1983.

Sister Maureen earned a BS in Gerontology from St.Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY, in 1978 and an MS in Gerontology from the College of New Rochelle in 1994. She completed a Theological Clinical Pastoral Education Program sponsored by the Archdiocese of New York Hospital Apostolate and St. Vincent’s Medical Center, New York City, in 1981.

Sister Maureen’s ministries included Co-Director of Thorpe Senior Center, Sparkill, NY, 1976-1977; Pastoral Care Minister, St. Vincent Hospital, NYC, 1980-1981; Frances Schervier Home, Bronx, NY, 1978-1981. From 1981,Sister Maureen served as Director of Thorpe Senior Center, Sparkill, NY, until its closing in 2021. Rockland County recognized Sister Maureen’s leadership as Director of Thorpe Senior Center with several awards during her tenure, including the Humanitarian Service Award honoring Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy.

Sister Maureen is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Rosena McNulty Bradshaw,along with her brother Edward (Marilyn) and brother-in-law Gerry. She is survived by her siblings: Christopher (Joan),Stephen(Debra),Susan Foley,Joseph(Ellen),and Charles (Mary).

Sister Maureen Bradshaw made a difference in the lives of countless senior citizens in her pastoral ministry, outreach to the elderly in Rockland County, and her commitment to the mission of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill—to proclaim the Word of God through ministry for justice and reverence for all creation. We thank God for Sister Maureen Bradshaw’s life and presence.
