Stanley was a senior member of the pct Det Sqd when I was  just starting out in the early 90’s at the 47. He was a fixture in the Bronx and was as knowledgeable as he was friendly. He made you feel part of the team even as a new guy just feeling your way around the job. Me and my fellow rookies were always glad to see Stanley show up any time the Sqd was needed. As we grew and gained experience and graduated to sector cars and became more active we would always say if anything ever happened to one of us we hoped Stanley would be working and catch the case. He was one of those guys who made a positive impact on an immeasurable amount of cops over his years.

I met Stanley around 1990 in New Orleans. I was a federal agent and we had arrested a NYC fugitive, Stanley and another dectective had come to bring the fugitive back to NY. The fugitive arrest resulted in my traveling to NY on a couple of occasions as the case wound its way through the courts.   Stanley was always there to ensure I had a ride from the airport as well as a companion as we tasted the best of the Bronx and perhaps shared a few beers. We remained friends from that day on, talking by phone and our annual exchange of Hanukah cards. In 2006 I was transferred to NYC and we met again as we worked a few investigative matters together.  Stanley was a 
mensch and a detective of incredible skills as well as compassion. 
I will miss his wit, stories, humor and friendship. RIP Stanley.

January 1985, just out of NSU and assigned to the 47 pct. Stan was the first person at the precinct with “time on” to introduce himself and offer his help to me and the other newly assigned officers. Always a gentleman, he was someone you could go to for advice and instruction. Very knowledgeable and kind. He was a  skilled detective. He will be greatly missed.

NOTE READ Stanley was the real life blood cousin of actor Tony Curtis. Stanley always said, “You know who got the good looks in the family?” True Story RIP Stanley you earned it!

It was March 1972 when.  I transferred to the 47 pct..As usual I had  footpost and that it when I first met Stsn.  He was in anti crime at that time. Stopped to introduce himself with the others and to give a little friendly advice. That was Stan. A cops, COP, a Detectives , Detective  and  a man's man. RIP old friend.

I was a rookie cop when I met Stanley in 1999 in the 47, and all I can say is he was a class act. A real asset to the Department but mostly importantly a great man. He always had a joke and took time out to help his fellow man. May you rest in peace 🕊️ Stanley, thanks for being you 🙏🏾

Stanley “Shifty” Schiffman, was truly one of New York’s Finest……a great man with a big heart, he was blessed with all of qualities needed to be a great detective.He was the Pride and Joy of the NYPD, and those who knew well understood exactly why. RIP

I met Stanley in June of 1974 when I was assigned as a rookie at the 47 pct in the Bronx.  Stanley was a Detective and spent the majority of his career there.  As luck would have it when I went into the Detective bureau in ‘’86 I began working homicide cases with Stanley.  Unflappable, funny, great at his craft as an investigator, it was always a pleasure to get to work with Stan.  He will truly be missed, a real pro.  RIP Stan, you had a great run.

Stanley was a very, very special man, who I met when I was a young Assistant District Attorney. His concern for all with whom he came in contact was quite clear.
I marveled at his ability to put fellow officers, young lawyers like me and, suspects at ease.
Justice was his mission and kindness was the tool he used to help achieve it.
Stanley will be greatly missed.

Was sorry to hear of Stanley’s passing. I worked with him for many years in the 47 precinct and he was a delight to work with. A great police officer and great detective with a sense of humor that made everyone laugh.
