Sydney Krivin

Syd was born on July 10, 1931 in Suffern, NY to Joseph and Lillian Krivin. His love of technology came from his dad, who owned a camera / photography shop in Nyack. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy where he found his first love – airplanes. Syd’s passion for flying was part of his military experience, where one of his assignments included being an Aircraft Carrier Flight Deck Crew member. He served his country from 1951 to 1955 before being honorably discharged, receiving a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

Following his military service, he attended Oswego State University and found his second love - Jean Myers.

Over the years, Syd worked as an engineer and drew up plans for equipment used by the military and NASA. He was an electronics packaging engineer and designed mine safety atmospheric monitoring devices as well. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 1996.

In addition to Syd’s passion for flying and airplanes, his sense of humor was quickly shared with everyone he met. You would often hear him say, “I have a story to tell you.”

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean; his sister, Rachelle “Rusty” Meyerson; his sons, Craig and Gary; his five grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing and service will take place at the Garden of Memories, 300 Soldier Hill Road in the Township of Washington, NJ on March 11 at 11:00am, with the interment immediately following.

The family will be gathering at the Bacari Grill, 800 Ridgewood Road, Township of Washington, NJ at 12:45-1pm. Friends are encouraged to stop by and share their stories of Syd. Everyone is welcome to dine if they wish, the menu is ala carte and paid for by each individual if you would like to join us.
