Timothy Patrick Armstrong, 48, son of Tom and Kate Armstrong, Nyack, NY died suddenly after losing his long battle with addiction on July 1, 2021. Timothy leaves behind his truest loves, daughters Payton Rose and Claire Marie. He adored them with every bit of his being. So proud of them both.
When Tim wasn’t bragging about his daughters, he could be found jamming on his guitar. A fan of classic rock, county, the blues, and Irish music, Tim was always entertaining. Tim had a natural ability to charm, he would sing for hours and teach himself new music. He especially enjoyed playing for his daughters, parents and youngest nieces and nephews.
In recent years, Tim could be found perfecting his swing on the golf course with his father. A pastime they loved to share together.
He was a member of the Clarkstown South High School Class of 1991. Tim was a veteran of the United States Army. After leaving the Army, he joined the NYNEX/Verizon company and worked with them for 24 years. Tim was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 3 and American Legion, Pearl River. Tim loved his country and he loved his flag.
Tim truly loved his God and would often pass out coins with the image of Jesus to those he thought needed a lift.
Beloved brother to Kathleen and Michael Finnerty, Garnerville, NY, Thomas and Julie Armstrong, Avon, CT and Patrick and Nancy Armstrong, Bridgewater, NJ. Uncle to Meagan, Michael, Sean, Taylor, Lauren, Cindy, Henry and Scarlett. Tim will be terribly missed by his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and closest friends. He shared countless memories ‘down the shore’ and at Irish music festivals with all. When the entire family would gather for holidays and celebrations, Tim was always at the center, making everyone laugh and feel good! Tim was a very funny “guy” and he truly had the gentlest soul!
The Armstrong family will receive guests at the Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY from 3-7pm on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, at 10am at St. Augustine’s Church, New City, followed by interment at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spring Valley, NY.
In lieu of flowers, it is asked for a donation to be made in Timmy’s memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, t2t.org
