

Toni Babington of New City, went to heaven on April 11, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Toni was born October 6, 1944 to Minnie (Trent) and Tobias Russo. She grew up in the Bronx where she met her “honeybunch” Lowell Babington when she was just 14 years old. She was a buyer at Gimbels in New York City. After she had her children she went back to school at Rockland Community College where she became a Registered Nurse. In 1984 she decided to open her own business, A & T Healthcare, LLC a home healthcare agency servicing many counties throughout New York with “Home Healthcare with Dignity”. She served the community for 30 years with care. Toni was honored throughout her career by various organizations. She won the first award for A Woman Owned Business presented by the Rockland Business Association and was also honored by United Hospice of Rockland for her service to the community. She is a former board member of the Child Care Resources of Rockland and the United Way. She donated to many charities including United Hospice of Rockland, DEBRA of America, Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels and the Make a Wish Foundation just to name a few. Toni touched the lives of everyone she met. Toni will be greatly missed by all those lives she touched both personally and professionally with her kind heart and generosity. Toni was a woman who loved her family, friends and employees.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 49 years Lowell Babington. Her children: Margaret and husband Pat Onody of Stony Point, NY, Thomas and wife Joanne Babington of Monroe, NY and Carol and husband Joe Ianiro of Stony Point, NY. She was so proud of her 7 grandchildren: Joey, Nicole, Tony, Geena, Michael, Jacklyn and Bryan. She is also survived by her sister Lydia Borsh and her loving cousins.
Toni will be deeply missed by all, family will receive visitors on Monday, April 14 from 7-9pm and Tuesday, April 15 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral home in New City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Clarkstown Reformed Church in West Nyack, NY on April 16 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Congers, NY with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to DEBRA of America 15 Broad Street Suite 300, NY, NY 10004 and the Joe Raso Hospice Residence.
