It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia “Ginny” Labriola (nee McNamee) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Ginny was born in Hoboken, NJ on July 12, 1959 to Patrick and Patricia (nee Whalan) McNamee. She moved to Haverstraw in 1965 with her family and proudly attended St. Peter’s School and graduated from North Rockland High School.
Ginny married the love of her life Joseph Labriola in 1983 and they built a beautiful family together in Garnerville. She was a dedicated mother to Katie and son-in-law Sean Welsh, and Rosie and son-in-law Kewin Garabito. Ginny was a proud and devoted grandmother to Charlotte and Kennedy Welsh and Reina and Khloe Garabito.
After high school, Ginny worked for Hornick’s factory in Haverstraw. She left the workforce to raise her daughters, a role she cherished above all else. She later returned to work at J&B’s Luncheonette and enjoyed her time working alongside her daughter Katie at Gilligan’s Bar and Grill. Ginny most recently worked at Helen Hayes Hospital and ultimately retired from the Attorney General’s office for the State of New York.
Ginny enjoyed the simple things in life—spending time with family and friends, savoring coffee and chocolate, and piecing together puzzles for hours. She thought nothing of hosting large Italian Christmas Eve celebrations. She loved cleaning on Saturdays while listening to Cher and planning her grocery store trips. What gave her the most joy was being a grandmother and spending time with her granddaughters, especially on Pasta Sundays. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Having grown up in North Rockland, Ginny was blessed with many lifelong friendships and cherished cousins whom she spent much of her early motherhood days with, especially the Picariello and Garrison families. She deeply appreciated their support and the love they showed her, especially during her hardest days. Ginny loved her Gurnee Avenue Girls (JoAnn Accomando, Margi Haug, and Antoinette Allen), whom she thought of as sisters. Ginny was a proud sister to Patrick, Michael, and James McNamee each of whom she loved deeply.
Ginny is survived by her loving husband Joe, daughters Katie and son-in-law Sean Welsh, Rosie and son-in-law Kewin Garabito, brothers Patrick and sister-in-law Suzanne, Michael, and James and sister-in-law Ruth, her mother-in-law Agnes Labriola, brother and sister-in-law John and Mary Devine, grandchildren Charlotte and Kennedy Welsh and Reina and Khloe Garabito. She is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews. Ginny was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Patricia McNamee, and her father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Labriola.
Visitation services will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, on December 7th 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
