

Walter Giannico passed away on February 1, 2012. He was 80 years old. Walter was born on March 25, 1931 in the Bronx, NY to Nicola and Christina (Ranallo) Giannico. He has been a resident of Nanuet, NY since 1960, prior from the Bronx, NY. He served his country proudly in the United States Army in Korea. Walter married the love of his life, Antoinette, in 1955 at the Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx. He has been with the Clarkstown PD for 26 years and retired in 1988 with Rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Clarkstown and Rockland PBA, Rockland County Shields, American Legion in Winter Haven, FL and Haverstraw Elks #467. Walter was an avid fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees. He was also the committeeman for the Rockland County Republican Party. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose greatest joys came from his family. Walter is survived by his wife, Antoinette of Nanuet, NY; his children, Lilla Maroney of Nanuet, NY, Susan and James Ball of Tallman, NY, Anthony and Lori of Nanuet, NY, Anita and Robert Conklin of New City, NY, and Diane and John Noone of West Nyack. NY; his 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his 8 brothers and sisters. Family may receive friends on Monday February 6 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday January 7, 10am, at St. Anthony's Parish Church in Nanuet, NY, followed by interment at Fred Loescher Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Shepard Hospice in Auburndale, FL or the Clarkstown PBA.
