

William J. Hanlon, 93 years old, died peacefully, yesterday at his home in Pearl River, NY. William was born on December 14, 1918 to William Hanlon and Mary Eckhart in New York, NY. William was a World War II veteran who had served for 5 years in the Army doing tours of duty in England, France, Germany & Belgian. He then worked for the NYC Department of Sanitation for 25 years from which he retired. Upon retirement from his former job, he then worked for the Sisters of St. Dominic for 9 years in Blauvelt, NY. He always enjoyed talking, joking, and his golfing. He also was an active member of the VFW in Orangetown #1615. William is predeceased by his loving wife, Rose and they were married 60 years. William is survived by his daughter, Patricia Williams and her husband Frank Williams of Pearl River, NY and his granddaughter, Denise Williams, of Bronx, NY and by his sister Jean, of Hauppauge, NY. Family may receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, 11am, St. Catharine's Church, Blauvelt, NY, followed by interment at Fred Loescher Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Hospice of Rockland or the American Heart Association .
