

William Matthew Laufenberg, 88, of Congers, NY passed away on December 5, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Marion and granddaughter Jennifer, both of whom he loved dearly. Born on April 21, 1924, he was a Navy man for over 20 years, and was an Atomic War Veteran serving his country in WWII as well as the Korean War. He was Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Rochester. Bill married Marion Lewis in 1944 and they enjoyed 67 years together before her passing earlier this year on April 6, 2012. A Social Studies teacher for 27 years, Bill was a proud member of the Korean War Veterans New City Chapter. He enjoyed reading, watching the NY Yankees and NY Giants, spending time with his family and his cat Shadow. He is survived by his children Jan Chapman of Rochester, NY, Tom Laufenberg of Tucson, AZ, and Lauren Laufenberg of Sparrowbush, NY, as well as several grand children and great-grand children.
Family will receive visitors on Sunday December 9th from 2-4p and 7-9p at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Services will be on held on Monday Dec 10th at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
