Yolanda M. Carroll

Yolanda was married to William Carroll in 1952. They had three children: Patricia, William, Jr., and Catherine.

Yolanda obtained her nursing degree from Hartwick College and began her career as an operating room nurse. She later continued her studies to become a school nurse teacher and worked for many years in the Clarkstown Central School District as the Link Elementary School nurse. Yolanda was dedicated to her profession and received numerous awards and recognitions, including a New York State Nurse of Distinction award in 1991 and Clarkstown Central School District Hall of Fame award in 2001.

In addition to her work, Yolanda had many interests. She was a member of the Clarkstown Garden Club and an avid bridge player. She also enjoyed things as varied as Metropolitan Opera performances and West Point football games, cooking and sewing.

Most important to Yolanda were her many friends and family members. A very gregarious person, she was often the organizer and center of many happy gatherings. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Yolanda is survived by her children, William Carroll, Jr., of West Haverstraw, NY, and Catherine (Michael) Kling of Fishers, IN, her grandchildren Catherine Carroll, and Matthew and Rachel Kling, and her sister, Victoria Grodevant, of Pickerington, OH. Yolanda was predeceased by her husband, William, and her daughter Patricia Carroll.

Family will receive visitors at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City on Monday, September 21 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will take place at Saint Augustine Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 22 at 10am.
