Arnie will be deeply missed and fondly cherished by his Loving Wife of 64 years, Berniece; Daughter, Sandra (Sandi) Goettsche (Todd) of Plymouth; Grandchildren, Benjamin (Mary) of Brooklyn Park, Kayleen of Austin, Texas, Konner of Plymouth; Great-Grandchildren, Clara and Ava; many Nieces, Nephews, extended Family and Friends.
He is preceded in death by his Son, Randall (Randy), his Sister Betty, his Brother Myron, and his Parents, Joseph and Ruth.
After graduating from Menahga High School in May 1944, he served in the United States Navy from 1944 - 1946. In Detroit Lakes, Arnie graduated from and later taught at the Minnesota Business School, and then worked for Swift & Company.
Arnie and Berniece were married in Park Rapids on November 9, 1954. After their wedding, he transferred to California where he continued to work for Swift & Company and later transferred to Georgia. Upon returning to Detroit Lakes for work with Firestone Company, they welcomed their son, Randy, into their lives. Eight years later they welcomed their daughter, Sandi, into their family.
Arnie worked for the Firestone Company for 58 years as an Accountant / Office Manager, relocating for work in many states. He last worked for many years at the Maple Grove office where he retired at age 88.
After settling in the New Hope area, they saw their children graduate high school and be married. There he enjoyed their life, gardening, puzzles, long drives and walking for miles.
Arnie was a consistent spiritual leader in his home. He began each day at the kitchen table, spending time in his personal devotions with the Lord. He not only regularly brought his family to church, but led by example as he served on the church Board and was Board Secretary/Treasurer. He demonstrated the kind of character that reflected the values he professed to all who he came in contact with.
Arnie was a man who was characterized by his love for others. He was known for his sense of humor and for treating family, friends and strangers alike with kindness and generosity.
Arnold and Berniece enjoyed each other’s company throughout their wonderful marriage of 64 years. Their children, Randy and Sandi, were the joy of their lives.
